Hi, to all!
I just got mine a few days ago. Noticed the same thing with regarding the high CPU temperatures immediately. So I did just the same thing as chris27940. But I soldered the fan directly to power connector contacts.
Now I would like to have Linux on it, that would help a lot with everything and that small PC would become much more powerful.

Hi heydiho,
Sorry for my late reaction, I was quite busy last few weeks. Thank you for the link to the video. I tested Linux on Tauon, I think this is a way to go. Android is just too slow and it is really not an OS for anything but phones. I hope there will be Linux Mint distro for Tauon one day. I do not have time to start assembling one.

I see where you hooked the ground for the fan but where did you steal power from? It's hiding under the SD cable...

So my PC-1 showed up Thursday and it took about 10 minutes to get it unboxed and updating. I've made the error of showing my wife the Apple Fling game, and she seems determined to melt the CPU. The CPU temp is running at 100 to 103C after she has played for about 20 minutes.
Thanks for the pictures and the power supply pickup info. Ill have to cobble something together before she damages the board permanently.

Ahoy, This is my first post from an actual Tauon PC1. I'll post 1st impressions later.
After just a few hours I noticed that these computers run hot. I averaged 80+dC while using it with a high of 93dC! So after some investigating cooling options I decided to try something that takes no mods. I have many old fans I saved from things like old video cards and CPU heat sinks but all involved opening the case and soldering so I ordered a laptop clip-on cooler. The one I bought cost about $17 from amazon. It is an Afmat USB powered cooler w/temp readout, auto and manual 13 speeds and off button. It arrived on 12/24. Since I have a small powered USB hub it was a good choice.
Installation was not too bad. I did have to mess with the bottom mounting plate and ended up taping it on for now. I tried to mount it on the back vent but the case was about 1/16" to thick. So I mounted it on the side vent. It sits tight against the vent.
On auto it never turns on even at a CPU temp of 89dC., not even good for emergency cooling. I suspect this is because there is no internal fan to push the heat toward it as on a laptop. But this has a manual setting from 1 to 13. After experimenting for 2 days I found I can set it between 3 and 6 while working on the Tauon and it seldom exceeded 60dF CPU temp. When idling I can turn it to 1 or 2 and it stays relatively cool. Overall it has some reasonable noise but works great. No soldering, no opening the case it just worked. Right now at fan speed 5 the CPU temp is 55dC while posting.
I'm runnig this with a USB hub. On it I have the fan, a mouse, a gamepad and a half terrabyte powered Seagate hard drive. Total cost of all new was not even close to $200. Quick and powerful and a ton of fun (if you keep your cool).
