Hi all, I explored several homebrew hobby computers before I bought my Tauon PC1. One of those was the BASICEngine computer. So I periodically check back on it. Recently they have started a new project using the Allwinner H3 Soc (the one in the Tauon). They have ported the OS called EngineBASIC to run on the H3. To quote: From BASIC Engine NG "The BASIC Engine NG (next generation) is a firmware for very low-cost single-board computers with advanced 2D color graphics and sound capabilities, roughly comparable to early to mid-1990s computers and video game consoles. It can be run on readily available and very low-cost Orange Pi single-board computers (as well as some other Allwinner H3-based devices) from an SD card." I downloaded the zipped file, used Balena Etcher on my RPi4B to burn it to an SD card then put it in my Tauon PC1. I crossed my fingers and turned on the power and in about 1 second I was looking at the main screen of EngineBASIC. It looks and works just like a vintage home computer with dedicated BASIC! I hope that anyone wanting to recreate that vintage look and feel (or show the kids what computing was like then) will try this fun language. I've written some simple programs and tried some demos and so far so good. Give it a try like I am and hail back with your expereriences. BASIC Engine was the second thing I tried on my new Tauon PC-1, and it was every bit as easy as mc10guru indicated. I love that I can turn on the machine and just start using it. Changing the character of my computer is as simple as plugging in an SD card.

Looking for a img of RetrOrangePi 4.3; know where a copy could be?
The ROPi website isn't working for me at the moment...
Edit: *found it, I think...
