We are pleased to announce that the upcoming TauonOS 1.2 will support Atari Joystick hardware MOD. Minimal soldering is required, this mod could be done even by a novice. All games and emulators that have gamepad support should be compatible. Other software might require some additional configuration. This thread would be updated with connection schematics soon.

Interesting! This opens a much wider range of joysticks. Currently, you can either use "gamepads" which are usually only for left handed people (if you are used to control the stick with the right hand) or the Competition Pro with USB. Now, we can use our favorite Joystick from the 80s!

This thread would be updated with connection schematics soon. I would like to see your connection schematic. Or at least a listing of Signals available at the Numbered Pads in your photos. I am toying with a notion of whether / how I can map other devices into what I believe is a Matrix (Keyboard) to USB decoder under that infamous "Black Schmutz"... I.E. the ATARI Driving Paddle, or the WICO trackball, etc. Thank You!

Sure! For ASDFJKL joystick you can use following pinouts:
Key / Pin / Action in Gamepad mode
A / 10 / Left S / 11 / Down D / 13 / Right F / 14 / Up J / 15 / A K / 18 / B L / 16 / C ; / 17 / START
Common Pin 8
Other keys that are easy to connect and map in the emulator are QWERUIOP:
Key / Pin / Action in Gamepad mode Q / 10 / None W / 11 / Up E / 13 / None R / 14 / None U / 15 / X I / 18 / Y O / 16 / Z P / 17 / Select
Common Pin 2
