Although not quite emulation, SidAMP plays Commodore 64 SID files. I don't know why, but the performance on the PC-1 is terrible. It isn't even worth attempting. Given the quad-core specs of the SoC, I would not have expected this. I can use SidAMP on my Galaxy S7 and it works great.
Is there anything that I can do to help pinpoint performance issues? I've been a software developer for 28 years. But I have very little experience with mobile development. The tools that I have used in the past basically took care of the low level implementation.

Hello, I will investigate this issue. Looks like that problem has something to do with priorities of sound drivers. As for now, I can suggest you use ZXTune, as far as I know, it has support for C64 music too and works pretty well on TauonPC

Thanks. I installed ZXTune. It has an easy, if simplistic, interface. And it plays SID files very well. Not quite as good as the real hardware. But nothing is as good as the real SID chip. Edit: I found where you can change "Interpolation" to "Quality (high CPU usage)". That doesn't work well on PC-1. But now I want to install ZXTune on my phone and see how well it works there.
