Hi
Full disclosure - I am a teacher adviser in the UK and have been previously looking at the CMM2 device as an education use case -- but I'm becoming more and more interested in the Tauon PC-1, mostly for the integrated form factor and the video out.
Some queries that I am looking to explore for a use case in class.
This looks like the ideal produce especially at the price point.
Final questions - are there any plans for a fully integrated version in a laptop form factor (with integral screen)? I appreciate that this will be far more expensive, but the challenge is a school setting will be having spare monitors / screens that the PC-1 can be plugged into. (That said, portable 7"" HDMI screens are relatively cheap).
Finally - where in the UK to buy ? (Google takes me to: store.activeconsult.co.uk/shop/ols/products/tauon-pc-1)
Best regards
Glen

Some queries that I am looking to explore for a use case in class.
- Is it possible to configure the PC-1 to "boot to Basic" -- and by that I really mean configure it so that on power up, it drops into Tauon-Basic without intervention from the user (The use case here is classroom use where I want to power on and code in BASIC without it looking like BASIC is running in an APP or under some other operating system (exactly like 1980s 8 bit kit. ) -- roughly how long does "boot" take?
- If (1) is possible, is "network" access possible (for file saves etc).
- Can I add SD card and can this be accessed via Tauon-Basic?
- Will access I2C / SPI or simple analogue / digital I/O be possible under BASIC (The CMM2 device allows access to I/O from within BASIC) -- Use case here, problem solving with BASIC and then programming up sensors in the real world -- or as simple as making LEDS flash in sequence.
- It looks like TauonBASIC extends Javascript -- are all aspects of Javascript implemented? (Just tried some string manipulation - text.slice and it worked fine) (emulator)
This looks like the ideal produce especially at the price point.
